MEASURE ADOPTED BY AFFECTED STATES TO CURB THE MENANCE CAUSED BY STUBBLE BURNING ....

Crop residue burning in Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh has been known, but nowadays it's spreading more frequently in other parts of country. 1) In pursuance of the announcement in the budget, the government announced a central sector scheme on ‘Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for In-Situ Management of Crop Residue in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and NCT of Delhi’. 2) In the budget of the 2018-19, the central government had announced a special scheme’ to encourage farmers in these states to shift to alternative ways of dealing with agricultural waste. 3)The government is also taking steps to popularize zero tillage farming where the crop seed will be sown through drillers without prior land preparation and disturbing the soil where previous crop stubbles are present.

  The goait of Punjab and Haryana have announced a bonus of Rs. 2500 for small and marginal farmers who are yet to start such activity.  1) In Haryana the state government has announced and additional of rupees thousand per acre incentive for custom hiring centres and straw Baler units to support their operational work.  2) 13 district in Punjab and Haryana nursery measures like providing farmers the machines to prevent them from burning are required. 3) The supreme court has warned that their entire administration and police.  hicrachy from the chief secretary to the sarpanch to the local policemen will be held responsible even if one instance of stubble burning occurs in future.

  T he government agency System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting (SAFAR) blamed stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana for the poor quality of air in Delhi. The share of stubble burning from the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana in Delhi's pollution rose to 46 per cent on Friday, the highest in 2019, government agency System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting (SAFAR) said. 1) Punjab government to address crop stubble burning. Various departments like Punjab Agricultural University,  Punjab Farmers Commission etc., are all making efforts to devise some alternate economic uses of rice stubble.  2) Punjab government is also providing subsidy to the farmers to promote the use of equipments which help in checking the burning of crop residues.  3) Similarly, Punjab Energy Development Agency is promoting non-conventional and renewable energy projects in the state that use crop waste as raw material.
